Singer/songwriter and San Francisco Bay Area native, Dave Land began pursuing a musical career at an early age.  While growing up, he was influenced by such musical greats as The Everly Brothers, Willie Nelson and The Rolling Stones. After learning to play the guitar, he joined his first band at age 15.

During the next nine years, Dave played rhythm guitar and sang in a variety of local bands whose styles ranged from Folk, to Rock and Roll, to Country.  Never quite finding his niche, Dave began performing solo and sharing the stage with the likes of Steve Oliver, Megan Slankard, Harvey Mandel, Elvin Bishop and Don McLean.

In the summer of 2003, Dave assembled an unlikely group of musicians with a variety of musical backgrounds and called them "The Downtowners".  Current members include Dave Land, Dave "Tsunami" Russio, Danny White, Bill Land, Kaitlyn Quackenbush and occasional performances with Dan Bauer.  The band brings the familiar combination of Rock, Folk, Country and Blues to the table resulting in their unique Country Rock sound.

Since its inception, the band has had a number of memorable performances. At the October 2003 "Music in Martinez" concert, Dave Land and the Downtowners became the first band to play at the John Muir Amphitheater.  Other notable appearances include "Hometown on The Bone" with San Francisco radio station 107.7 FM, the Fremont Festival of the Arts, three consecutive years at the "Hats Off America" car show in San Ramon benefiting families of fallen American service men and women, and two standing room only CD release parties.

Dave Land and the Downtowners released their first album "Pirate Eyes" in May 2005.  Their follow up album "America Rocks" was released in June of 2006 and they are currently working on their third album "Rock and Roll Cowboy".

On the lighter side, Dave Land and band mates Dave Russio and Bill Land launched a spin-off project called "Big Wave Dave and the Breakers", a tribute to vintage rock and roll.  The trio combines a play list of 50's to 80's Rock and Roll classics with a beach party atmosphere for hours of mindless fun. Performing at a variety of venues including clubs, restaurants, parties, weddings, corporate functions, fundraisers, festivals, luaus, car shows and street fairs, these guys always leave audiences shouting for more.  Big Wave Dave and the Breakers will rock you back...and back again.
